Google, however, has now launched its own Cloud Printing service that allows you to send jobs to your printer across the Web from its Cloud Print-enabled apps. These include its Gmail and Google Docs services as well as its Chrome Web browser. Kodak and HP are currently the only two companies that offer Google Cloud-ready printers. These printers can be connected directly to the Google Cloud service via Wi-Fi, so they don’t need your PC to be turned on for cloud printing to work.

Pairing your Android device using the printer’s Bluetooth Smart signal does not enable Bluetooth printing. Although Bluetooth pairing is possible between your Android device and the printer, Bluetooth Smart and traditional Bluetooth pairing are two different features. Bluetooth Smart helps the HP ePrint app locate and connect your printer, and then print jobs are completed over your Wi-Fi network or the Wi-Fi Direct connection.

Recently, we’ve also seen the advent of cloud printing services. These services allow you to send documents and photos to your printer from anywhere in the world. So you can send a photo of New York you’ve just taken on your mobile to your printer back home, for example. And if your printer is ‘cloud ready’, it doesn’t need to be connected to a PC for cloud printing to work. As long as it’s turned on and connected to your Wi-Fi network, it’ll start printing once it’s received the data via the Internet. Kodak’s Hero 7.1 (pictured right) is just one example of a cloud-ready printer.
* Compatible with iPad, iPhone or iPod touch devices running iOS 9.0 or later, or Android mobile devices running Android 5.1 or later, with Bluetooth hardware enabled. For full print functionality Canon PRINT Inkjet/ SELPHY app must be open and paired to use Bluetooth functions, available for free on the App Store and at Google Play. Connecting your printer with a USB cable limits mobility and access to your printer, not to mention the ugly cable running through your office. You can solve these problems by buying a wireless printer. Wireless printers come in two basic types: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is simple to set up and use but is more appropriate for small office spaces and a limited number of users while Wi-Fi takes a bit more to set up but can serve more users over a greater range.
5. AirPrint functionality requires an iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, or iPod touch 3rd generation or later device running iOS 4.2 or later, and an AirPrint-enabled printer connected to the same network as your iOS device. A printer connected to the USB port of your Mac, PC, AirPort Base station, or Time Capsule is not supported.
With AirPrint you can print from Safari, Mail, Photos, iWork and PDFs in iBook, and there are a number of third party iOS apps that support printing, too. If you choose to print a photo, AirPrint will even automatically select your printer’s photo tray, if it has one.

Some Canon printers possess the ability to connect to your computer via both USB and Bluetooth. When connecting through a Bluetooth connection, you do not need any wires or cables running between the computer and Canon printer. If you have been using the USB connection, you can change to Bluetooth at any time, as long as your Canon printer is Bluetooth enabled. If not, you can’t adjust your printer to function as a Bluetooth device.
Not all phones that have Bluetooth onboard support Bluetooth printing, so it’s worth checking your phone’s manual before investing in a Bluetooth-enabled printer. Nevertheless, Bluetooth printing is a handy feature if your phone doesn’t support Wi-Fi, as it lets you print snaps from your phone without having to hook up any cables, or first transfer your snaps to a PC.
17. Based on accelerated testing by Canon in dark storage under controlled temperature, humidity and gas conditions, simulating storage in an album with plastic sleeves. But the biggest noticeable difference between the two printers is with people portraits. The older model TS9020 has beautiful, true, warm skin tones. This new TS9120 gives the skin tones a slightly bluish tint, for example blue veins in the forehead are more noticeable. I much prefer the older TS9020 with the gray ink tank for pictures of people.
Epson’s iPrint supports printing of a range of different file formats from your phone or tablet, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files. Naturally, it also lets you print photos and scan documents.
Some products utilize the keyboard shortcut ‘Fn + Esc’; the product information will appear after a short delay. If that doesn’t work, this information can also be found on your bar code stickers, which may be located behind the battery.
You can enable Google Cloud Printing on other printers by downloading the Google Chrome browser. Your printer will need to communicate to the cloud service via your PC, however, so your computer always needs to be on for the service to work with these non-cloud ready printers.
