It is a simple process all I can think is that square gets a percentage of royalties from their supported printer sales and thats why they are locking everything down to these ridiculously overpriced pieces of equipment.
Quite simply, these are useful devices for printing not only sale receipts but also things like kitchen orders, credit card slips and the like – so they’re definitely not something that you can do without unless your business is cash-only or totally functions on Bitcoins.
We really like the Apple MFi certification with the auto connect feature. We also like the small footprint of this receipt printer. Overall this is one easy and fast printer to setup. The Apple MFi makes it real easy. You just turn the printer on within range of your iPad.

You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.

This printer is terrible. It always has connectivity issues and it is constantly jamming. Worst mistake i made for my business. We have to keep it off until we get a customer otherwise it keeps printing no host receipts and it jams. Called star micronics they said it was probably an issue on my end. WRONG! MY other register, which is hooked up by same switch board, has an Epson printer and it gives no issues. Do not buy this printer for your business. Go with an Epson. Same amount of $, no problems.
Various Micro printers. All are model M129C. AC adapter not included unless choosing that option under the “good” category. I have less adapters than printers so I did not include the option for the u…
Like I said the only issue im having which is not the printers fault is me utilizing the ESC/POS commands but I was having that issue with my other printer simply because I don’t program in C# and VB.Net(ALTHOUGH IT HAS SOME SAMPLES FOR VB6 FOR THOSE WHO STILL USE VB6!!)
If your printer is able to obtain an IP address, as in the image above, from your iPad home screen, tap the Settings icon, then tap Wi-Fi or Ethernet, depending on how your iPad is connected to your network. Most iPads use Wi-Fi, and if no Ethernet connection is present, the Ethernet option will not appear. If you see an Ethernet option, this is most likely how your iPad is connected.

Thermal printers are fast and quiet but require toner to function, and inkjet printers are fast and give high quality prints but are generally the most expensive.

Tip: By default, your iPad will automatically change Wi-Fi networks if it detects a stronger signal that is not password-protected, such as from a neighboring business, or even a nearby Wi-Fi hotspot such as a customer’s smartphone. If your iPad changes to another Wi-Fi network, it will lose connection with your Ethernet receipt printer and also any Ethernet label printers

This printer is fast and has useable options. I use it with my iPad and Square credit card reader. You can also use it for POS or other systems or configurations. Using it with Square credit card processor I save paper because I only print the customer copy because all the other transaction data is accessed online. And when I tap print on my iPad it starts and completes the printing in just one second. I saw this printer being used at my local drug store with a different setup and it too works well. Give it a try and I think you’ll be glad you did.
First one we got was dead. Customer service is almost non-existent. Packaged it up and paid to ship back to repair center. Several weeks went by with no feedback, then received back the exact packaging with no note or anything to indicate what the issue was, or if it had even been fixed. It seems it has, but that process was a pain. Now it doesn’t like to stay visible on the network so we are always either re-booting or just telling people it’s broken. Turns out people don’t care all that much about paper receipts anyway. Recommend purchasing directly through Square if you really need it. At least then you might get some tech support.
We bought this thermal printer for work. It works well as described, but there are some programs that don’t use the printer, and setting up the printer is less than intuitive/easy for the average user. I had to go into advanced settings and follow advice on forums to get it to function the right way.
We purchased this printer because of its network capability. In our office we have a POS laptop, that gets used at multiple desks. With the network feature, as long as the laptop is logged in to wifi, this printer works flawlessly. We did have a little issue getting it configured properly, but that was before I contacted the company. I simply visited their website, requested help, and within 30 minutes the printer worked perfectly… So while the printer is great, the service was phenomenal…

The Ethernet printers compatible with Square Point of Sale are thermal printers. They call for heat-sensitive paper and won’t work with non-thermal receipt paper. These types of printers typically aren’t excellent for kitchens or high-temperature working areas.
The Epson TM-T88V is the standard bearer for excellence in thermal receipt printing. One of the fastest printers on the market, the TM-T88V can handle high volume grocery and retail printing with ease. Energy star compliance and paper saving functions minimize your ecological impact and help improve your return on investment.
I bought this to work with my Lightspeed POS system. I checked the list of systems it would not work with and it was not on there. I inserted the so called “Installation Disk” and it was just a handful of random pictures. There was a girl in a field and some flowers. There were no other instructions. When I plugged it in ,y laptop starting installing it, it showed up on my printers but as a local usb and when I would try to print from it, it would not show up on the printers list. I tried to call the actual company that makes the printers and unless you use their POS system they will not help you. I have tried several printer to try to get them to work and it has been a nightmare. I would not suggest buying this printer unless you are using the revel systems POS.
Another nice touch is that they include a CD which allows you to customize the printer (add logos, sync with POS systems, custom data to add once the receipt is printed, etc). Keep in mind though, this customization works with certain POS systems, not all. On Square, I can’t tell the printer to print out all of the extra stuff since the POS for Square is very simplified.
