3) As to tips, you are being a tad disingenuous again. The ones I’ve seen, for instance, tend to give the consumer the option of no tip or 20%, 25%, etc. Frankly, I find that offensive. There are many times I feel a 20% tip is warranted, but there are times I don’t. So my only option then is no tip (or leave one in cash, which causes its own problems for documentation.) I’ve not seen a Square app set up yet to allow me to put in my own tip amount. It may exist, but just saying’ …

I am having issues with printer USB connectivity. iPad recognizes square stand and the square stand also charged the iPad. But the USB hub will no longer charge chip reader nor will the printer’s green light turn on. I also just updated my iPad to iOS 9.3.1

Have not purchased this printer, but wanted to let people know that this is not the only printer that will work with Square. I have two Star Micronics printers, one Ethernet and one Bluetooth and both work fine with the Square app for iPad. I also have Ethernet based cash drawers that connect through the printers and those works just as well. This probably has the easiest set up, but it is not the only way.

5) Your marketing analysis is incomplete. Indeed, Square’s primary audience is vendors. But in today’s social media world, the secondary channel, and an important one, is the consumer. It predates social media, actually – why do you think MasterCard, Visa and Discover spend so much money on advertising to the consumer? They understand that getting the consumer to use their cards gets merchants to accept those cards. Square’s situation is not identical, but similar. If it wants to get merchants to adopt its technology, then having consumers asking for it is a good marketing tactic. Case in point: I recently went to an art show where one of the artists we bought something from whipped out an old paper receipt maker. She also had a smartphone. We got to talking, and I suggested she look into Square and its alternatives. She said she would.
Dust protected & splash-proof resistant (IP54Certified), the SM-T300i is rugged enough for outside field workers requiring handhelds to seamlessly print from a mobile device to a durable portable mobile receipt printer
According to Square’s Help Center, the iPad version of their app supports many Star Micronics printers. In order to work, these printers must be plugged into a wireless router via Ethernet cable that is accessible to the iPad. Visit Square’s Help Center and search for “print receipts” to learn more.
We bought this thermal printer for work. It works well as described, but there are some programs that don’t use the printer, and setting up the printer is less than intuitive/easy for the average user. I had to go into advanced settings and follow advice on forums to get it to function the right way.
I received the product bundle in perfect condition, sent it off to my remote store and the client ran into a technical issue and to my amazement a tech support call was made on a Sunday, within an hour of first contacting Epsilont and they resolved the issue in one call moments later.
We first bought the Wifi model and couldn’t get the manufacturer or Square to figure out how to make the two communicate, even though it’s supposed to be supported. We were told to return that and switch to this blue tooth model. Now this one won’t communicate with Square either. It’s the only receipt printer that Square publishes it supports. We don’t have any odd setup, all brand new peripheral equipment, new iPad, Square stand/Register. Hours on support with both and no resolution to date.

We’ve been using this printer for over a year, and never had any issues. It’s such a great product, built to last! So easy to use with the Square app on the iPad! I have set other businesses up with this receipt printer!
Another nice touch is that they include a CD which allows you to customize the printer (add logos, sync with POS systems, custom data to add once the receipt is printed, etc). Keep in mind though, this customization works with certain POS systems, not all. On Square, I can’t tell the printer to print out all of the extra stuff since the POS for Square is very simplified.

Other Thoughts: Bought this unit to work with Square Register on an Samsung Tab 4. I had to make a cable to connect the the printer to the Star cash drawer. The cable pin-out can be found online for the units. You can buy the cable for like 10 dollars or something. I would recommend if you do not understand wiring diagrams to buy the cable, it is a bit complicated to understand how to make it if you have never done something like that before.

All I can say is that square has made “dancing with the devil” tolerable, at least I’m not getting as badly burned. Squat ehas literally saved my small business. Shame on Mr. Fisher for misrepresenting the facts.
Acts as a regular printer, you install it, and print whatever you want to it and it automatically scales it down to the margin on the printer paper and done deal(No need to go around playing with settings) NOTE: CHROME STILL LIKES TO USE 2 MILES OF THE PAPER SO I DONT KNOW ABOUT CHROME AS MY POS FRONT END. I USE FIREFOX OR OPERA)
