There are a couple of driver versions for the TSP100 series, depending on the model (FurturePRNT, ECO etc) and operating system. This article explains how to configure both models to fire the cash draw whenever a receipt is printed.
I had a issue with the printer not turning on due to a malfunctioning square pos stand from square up. I spent about 3 hours on it , I called the customer service and a nice guy was able to guide me thru. It turns out the iPad air needed a software update to a iOS 11 beta 2 in order to work and connect. He helped me out on the products I didn’t even buy from him. He even directed me to a link to exchange my square pos stand. If you ever had to work squareup customer service you would know how lengthy and tedious it can get. He was able to help me bypass a lot of the complication and the product I brought was just the cash drawer and printer and it was in great and working condition. After I got my iPad air updated and pos stand exchanged everything connected and works perfectly now! This saves me over a thousand dollars!! I am so happy with my result I reorder another one from them!
Sean, to be clear, when using the API, a 3rd party app could be used on the iPad in the SquareStand, with or without the EMV/NFC reader, BUT, when it’s time to process a payment, the API brings the Square Register user interface (or a subset of it) to the foreground to handle the processing of the payment?
Bottom line: I like the idea of Square and its counterparts. Anything that makes it easier and adds utility should be considered. The possibility of having electronic access to a sufficiently detailed version of my receipts instead of having to stuff things in the wallet, etc., is utility. But Square isn’t sufficiently there yet and, as you suggest, it’s caveat emptor. That was the point of my post. Thanks for reinforcing it.

I use this with Square Register on a Samsung Galaxy Note (3 ?). Once it’s set up it plugs right into the USB On The Go adapter, app detects the printer, and I can print my customers their receipt! Very professional looking instead of just a text message or email URL, which many of our customers wouldn’t really know how to use. It seems like a high price to pay for such a small seemingly simple device but so far it appears to be a sturdy, lasting machine. A package of receipt paper lasts a long time. If things fall through it has a high resale value as opposed to some other devices (just check out eBay and Amazon used).
If you want a great little device that you can just put in your pocket and is compatible with Android devices, this one is a great option to look into. In addition to being able to connect via Bluetooth, you can also use it with USB connections for even more functionality – but be warned that it doesn’t work with iOS devices and it’s unclear if it’ll work with a Mac either.
I just purchased a Square Stand yesterday and am new to this, but am having a similar issue. My Stand (for ipad Air) will charge my ipad and the ipad recognizes the stand, but the Register app won’t recognize that the stand is connected and it won’t read cards. Trying to decide whether to return it immediately. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?
Computers only come with so many ports, and if you need to connect multiple accessories to a computer, it can quickly become cluttered. Thanks to Bluetooth® technology, compatible accessories can be connected to a computer without any cords. Take your entire system wireless with a variety of wireless networking solutions or consider a network interface device to connect to a telephone network.
The growth in the number and variety of portable printers has also been spurred by the huge number of portable devices—whether laptops, tablets, or smartphones—with which you can view documents or photos. With the skyrocketing popularity of mobile devices have come mobile printers that can handle varied input, including files received over various wireless protocols, from traditional Wi-Fi to peer-to-peer connections such as Wi-Fi Direct that don’t require the use of a Wi-Fi network at all. Some printers, both photo and document models, can print on odd-size paper.
Mobile phones and tablets use Bluetooth to connect wirelessly to a Bluetooth printer, so the printer connection is typically easy to set up. Portable Bluetooth printers come with a built-in battery, which makes them fully mobile with no need for network or power cables.

Secondky, Merchant service providers are losing business at such an alarming rate that SCARING consumers with allegations of security issues is the only recourse they have. Square has it right, it’s a matter of fairness to vendors that do huge amounts of small transactions. Think of what the CC industry has done. They have forced a society, and soon the globe, into using them indispensably, create a quasi monopoli, and double dip both on the consumer AND vendor side. It is CRIMINAL, albeit genius.
